Hi everyone! We’re proud to present Under Siege to the readers of the PlayStation.Blog. In a nutshell:
What’s that you say? How juicy is the campaign?
For starters, the single-player campaign in Under Siege does not include those pesky grinding levels many other strategy games have; You don’t have to spend half an hour getting wood to then build a base, and so on. Your army is always there with you, growing persistently from level to level. Your army also gains experience ranking up as they fight, so it’s important to keep them alive because when they die… well, we like to think that they were somebody’s son.
Oh, and you found a new race in the swamp that wants to join your cause? They can! Because in Under Siege, your army is made up of every race found in the game. This makes for some interesting strategy tactics for multiplayer matches.

Speaking of multiplayer…
You can play multiplayer with up to four players online, and two two locally via split screen. You and your friends can play 1v1, 2v2, 3v1 or four players vs the A.I.
What’s that, Billy? You want to know what multiplayer modes are available? Well, what if I told you that we have all of them? Hummm? Can you touch the stars now, Billy? Can you?
Since in Under Siege every map is made in the Editor, it basically means that any kind of multiplayer mode is possible. Currently, the game will ship with some maps of Deathmatch, Capture Point, Capture Treasure, and Survival. There will be more to come, but these will be a surprise.
The Editor
The guys at Media Molecule knew what they were doing, so we decided to do the same. The Editor that ships with Under Siege allows everyone to create their maps and share them with the world. It’s the same tool that we used to build all of our maps!
The maps can be single player or multiplayer; A short campaign or a complex co-op survival mode.
What about the game features?
And most important of all, Playstation Move support. That’s right, Under Siege is one of the first RTS games that uses the PlayStation Move, and to prove the implementation is done right, check out our video (above) made specially for the nice folks here at the PlayStation.Blog.
Fire away with those questions!

Action Fans, history buffs, Anime enthusiasts, and anyone else who wants a fun time punishing enemies: the Sengoku BASARA: Samurai Heroes demo for PlayStation 3 gives you a sample of what to expect when it arrives on PSN tomorrow, September 7. Featuring two playable samurai, the demo lets you pick up the swords of Mitsunari Ishida or smash your enemies into the ground using bare hands as Ieyasu Tokugawa, each with a few leveled up moves. When the full game arrives on October 12, you’ll have more than a dozen playable characters to choose from, each with their own weapons, fighting styles, and move sets.

From the creator of Devil May Cry 4, Sengoku BASARA: Samurai Heroes puts you smack in the middle of the war between clans in 16th century Japan. With notable samurai taken from Japanese history, but stylized into veritable war machines, choose a side and form alliances as you battle hundreds of enemies in the effort to unite, divide, conquer, or bring peace to the land. On your way to the final battle, you’ll upgrade your weapons and learn powerful new moves including deadly BASARA arts which allow you to unleash spectacular moves that wipe out multitudes of enemies.
I’ll leave you with a tip: while it’s not always necessary to take down the camp commanders in order to progress through the game, occupying a camp can give you added bonuses such as weakening the final opponent. So fight hard and fight smart.
Hop online, download, and enjoy! Be sure you don’t miss Sengoku BASARA: Samurai Heroes when it arrives in North America on October 12.

Back from PAX! Thursday night’s PAX meetup was a riot, and possibly our largest turnout to date. It’s always exciting to speak with PlayStation fans face-to-face, and I had a lot of fun talking games with familiar names from the PlayStation.Blog and official PlayStation Twitter account. Thanks for coming out!
Though my trip to Seattle was a short one, I was able to prowl the PAX floors for a few hours to soak in the avalanche of upcoming games. I’ll be sharing some of my gameplay encounters next week, so stay tuned.
- I’m playing: Castle Crashers; Hoard, TRON Evolution, and Mortal Kombat (at PAX)
- I’m watching: True Blood Season 3, eagerly awaiting Fringe Season 3
- I’m reading: A Week with the PlayStation Move on ArsTechnica.com, Man After Man: An Anthropology of the Future by Dougal Dixon
God of War: Ghost of Sparta Demo for Spartan Army, God of War Live Recap – God of War fans who couldn’t make it to our PAX meetup got another shot at the new PSP demo.

As I write this, we’re still in Seattle for PAX (look for some more stories next week). So as many articles as we have read this week, we don’t any PAX impressions on it. Please feel free to pitch in. And, of course, enjoy your labor day weekend!
